Mark G. Higgins founded Point Monitor in 1999. He serves both as President and General Manager of day-to-day operations. Mark holds a BSBA in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. With 23 years experience in the low voltage field, Mark has performed the duties of installer, designer, service repair technician, salesperson and corporate officer.

With Long Island as his birthplace, Mark still cherishes his connection to New York. (There is no pizza like New York pizza.) But before he was in junior high the family had already moved briefly to New Jersey and then on to Cleveland, Ohio. Mark attended St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland and then went on to Bowling Green.

During his college years Mark became interested in low voltage after gaining a summer job in Cleveland with Fire Communications, Inc.

Mentored by Mike Gaukin - a very accomplished technician and business owner in his own right - Mark worked on fire alarm and intercom systems in the summers and attending college the balance of the year. Soon Mark was subcontracting small projects from Mr. Gaukin and successfully completing them at the age of 20, providing money for college and a foundation for future unforeseen business pursuits in Oregon.

Once graduated from Bowling Green with a business degree, Mark eventually moved to California to study Industrial Engineering. Before long Mark had met Jennie, and together they moved to Sacramento where Mark started a five year run with Simplex (now SimplexGrinnell).

After a few years in Sacramento and then nearly three more in the Portland branch with Simplex, it became apparent to Mark that there was possibly no company with the correct attitude toward both customer and employee.

In a step of faith Mark started Point Monitor and has been truly blessed with success beyond measure, including a fine staff, satisfied customers and a fun and professional work setting.

Mark and Jennie attend Southwest Bible Church in Beaverton, Oregon and have a strong faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Mark and Jennie Higgins reside in Newberg, Oregon and are raising their 5 children for the Lord. On any given day as a family they are busy chopping firewood, picking berries or performing miscellaneous duties on their "mini-farm".
